Coast Dental Finalizes the Purchase of SmileCare

It looks like another buy-out/merger of corporate dental management companies.

Coast Dental Services has finalized its purchase of the assets of Dental Technology (DTI), doing business as SmileCare, and Community Dental Services, a California licensed healthcare service plan.

DTI and its subsidiaries operate 57 SmileCare dental practices in California, Nevada, and Texas, and employ 1,200 staff members, including 130 dentists.

All SmileCare dental centers will continue to operate under the SmileCare brand name, according to the company.

With the acquisition, Coast Dental becomes the fifth largest provider of dental practice support in the United States with 1832 affiliated dental practices and 2,200 employees. Prior to the purchase, Caost Dental had 125 affiliated practices in Florida and Georgia.
